Custom AI Skills
Create reusable AI skills — saved instruction sets you invoke with a slash command to shape how Omma's AI responds.
What is a skill?#
A skill is a reusable set of instructions you save once and invoke on demand to steer how Omma's AI approaches a task. Think of skills as named experts you can call into a conversation — a "design reviewer", a "performance optimizer", an "accessibility checker" — each carrying its own guidance.
Skills work in both the Chat and Canvas apps.
Invoking a skill#
Skills are never applied automatically. To use one, type its slash command anywhere in your message:
/design-reviewer How does this landing page hold up?
When you send the message, Omma adds that skill's instructions to the AI as additional guidance for that response. You can invoke more than one skill in a single message. As you type /, a menu suggests your active skills alongside Omma's other commands.
In Canvas, a skill is layered on top of the frame-editing rules as extra guidance on what to prioritize and check — it shapes the approach without overriding how Canvas edits your designs.
Built-in skills#
Every account starts with a few ready-to-use skills you can invoke right away or edit to taste:
/design-reviewer— Expert UI/UX critique for a consistent design system/optimize-perf— Finds opportunities to improve speed and performance/accessibility-checker— Reviews accessibility against WCAG standards/growth-booster— Ideas to grow conversion, SEO, and revenue
Managing your skills#
Open the Skills view from the sidebar to create, edit, and delete your skills. Each skill has:
- Name — a human-readable label
- Slash command (slug) — the
/commandyou type to invoke it (lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens) - Description — a one-line summary
- Instructions — the guidance the AI follows when the skill is invoked
- Icon — an emoji or icon + color to recognize it at a glance
- Active toggle — controls whether the skill appears in the
/menu suggestions
Open the Skills view
Click Skills in the sidebar to see all of your skills as cards.
Create a skill
Click New Skill and fill in the name, slash command, description, and instructions — or describe what you want and use Generate with AI to draft the fields for you, then refine and save.
Invoke it
In a Chat or Canvas message, type the skill's /command followed by your request.
Tips for writing good skills#
- Be specific about behavior — describe exactly what the AI should check, prioritize, or produce, and the tone to take.
- Keep skills focused — one clear purpose per skill is easier to invoke and reason about than a catch-all.
- Toggle off what you don't use — turning a skill off keeps it out of the
/menu without deleting it (you can still invoke it by typing its command).
